New EES System: How Entry Rules to the EU Will Change Starting November 10🛫

• Starting from November 10, the new Entry/Exit System (EES) will be operational at the borders of the European Union.
   

Passport pages will no longer be stamped upon entry and exit; instead, biometric data will be scanned and stored for 3 years.

The Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine's communications department explained the new rules for entering the EU. The government emphasized that this will not affect the visa-free regime with the EU, and the visa-free travel will remain in place. No additional fees for entering the EU are being introduced. It’s simply a change in the approach to document verification.

The EES IT system will automatically record the entry and exit of all non-EU foreigners to the Schengen Area. This includes all non-EU citizens, including Ukrainians.

• 📌How the procedure will work:
   

The EES will record biometric data, including fingerprints and facial images. Border crossing time may increase by about 40 seconds due to biometric data collection, according to the Cabinet of Ministers. If a person refuses to provide biometrics, they will not be allowed to cross the border. Passport entry stamps will no longer be applied. Biometric data will be stored and valid for travelers for 3 years. In the future, travelers will scan their documents at a self-service terminal upon every entry.
